What Third Ingredient Grammatical Range and Accuracy means

In this section we'll talk about grammatical range and accuracy. This is our third ingredient to writing a great essay. Now this is going to be a long section because there are many different parts to grammar. We're going to be breaking down everything from tenses to simple sentences to compound sentences to complex sentences.

We'll talk about conjunctions Active Voice passive voice and much more so because there are so many things for us to cover in this grammar section. I've broken it up into several different subsections. Now I want you to keep in mind that this is not a grammar course. The main focus of this course is to teach you the strategy that you need to perform well on your child's test ideally you should already be familiar with these grammar concepts.

How to use it

However since these concepts are important I will still be going over them and discussing the most important aspects of grammar. So with that said let us move on ahead. We're going to start off with some basic information so according to the banned descriptors if you want to get a banned seven or higher. Here's what you need to do.

So first of all you need to show a wide range of different sentence types and word orders basically. You just need to show off your ability to form a variety of compound sentences and complex sentences now complex sentences look very good in your writing. But this doesn't mean that all you have to write are complex sentences. Keep in mind that you should also write some simple sentences.

Because simple sentences are very easy to write and therefore you're less likely to make a mistake on a simple sentence. You see when you write longer sentences you are more likely to make a mistake. On the other hand if you write simple sentences you can decrease your errors and therefore boost your accuracy. This is important because the vast majority of your sentences.

That means over 50 percent of your sentences have to be error free. So be sure to use a nice mix of compound sentences complex sentences and simple sentences. Finally you need to know how to use punctuation correctly punctuation includes things like the comma apostrophe capitalization and so on. We'll discuss this in more detail in the future videos as well so that's it for this video.

This was just a brief introduction to our grammar section. In the next video we'll be talking about tenses.
